Johnny J & the Hitmen

Johnny JJohnny J. & the Hitmen’s third release J-Walkin features Johnnys collaboration with Alex Chilton of the Box Tops, Ben Keith, and the late, legendary guitarist Wayne Bennett, best known for his work with the Bobby Blue Bland. J-walkin’ is a mixture of rockabilly, blues, country and rock n’ roll.

Johnny J. is a much sought after New Orleans session player and has appeared on numerous releases by local roots artists. This includes his guitar solo on the title track of Roland Stone’s 1993 “Remember Me.”

“J-Walkin’ was recorded in the same studio where Louis Armstrong once performed radio broadcasts and features some of the last tracks by the late Wayne Bennett on guitar, as well as cameos from Neil Young sideman Ben Keith and Alex Chilton who guests on You Don’t Know What You Got. Also inspiring are the instrumental title tracks and the slow-draw rendition of the Meters’ Cissy Strut.”
